Red Sea Imaging, LLC is comprised of a small, diverse group of science and media creators, with skills in underwater photography and cinematography, graphic design, science writing, natural history, and more. We work around the world, but have particular experience operating in the Saudi Arabian Red Sea.
Morgan Bennett-Smith
FOUNDER, Director of photography
Morgan is a field research scientist, photographer, and cinematographer. He completed his B.A. in marine science at Occidental College in Southern California and his MSc. in marine science at the Red Sea Research Center in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia, where he studied Red Sea coral reef ecology. He stayed in the Red Sea after graduating, and his experience in the region now includes 10 years and thousands of SCUBA dives. Academically, he now studies ocean mutualisms at Boston University as a PhD student in the Marine Evolutionary Ecology Lab.
Morgan's photographs have won a dozen international competitions and been featured by hundreds of organizations. He makes frequent trips to the Red Sea year-round, for both research and filmmaking, and leads several broadcast projects in the region.
Christina Janulis
AC, Dive safety
Christina is fascinated by the ways in which humans interact with nature, past and present. She is a PADI Divemaster and lifelong ocean lover, despite growing up in the heart of New York City. Christina studied life sciences and nature writing as an undergraduate at Harvard College, where she now works as a literary research assistant with the University Herbaria. A student member of The Explorers Club since 2016, Christina organizes early career mentorship programs and ocean art exhibits for the Club’s annual World Oceans Week. She’s also not bad with a ukulele.
Tiffany Duong
Ocean writer, storyteller, diver
Tiffany Duong is an explorer and storyteller. She holds degrees from UCLA and the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. Inspired by an epic dive trip, she left corporate law to campaign for our planet. Now, she writes, speaks and leads from dense jungles to remote oceans to the changing Arctic. Through her varied work, Tiff gives voice to what's happening in the natural world to inspire meaningful action and lasting change. Follow her on Twitter/Instagram @tiffmakeswaves.
Thomas Wroten
Graphic Design, Installation Specialist
A graduate of the Chapman University FIlm Program, Tom is an experienced Director Of Technology with a demonstrated history of working in the primary/secondary education industry. A skilled graphic designer, Tom has been integral in creating brand identities for multiple Sacramento, California-area institutions. He is also a skilled “Jack of Many Trades”, and has professional expereince in electrical, contracting, and general construction.
Dr. Helena Villela
Scientific Communications Specialist, Presenter
Dr. Villela is a research scientist, science communicator, and expert in Red Sea coral reefs. For the last several years, she has studied the potential of marine microbes that can be applied to the protection and recovery of the environment, mitigating the consequences of the anthropogenic activities. She has also been a key presenter in front of the camera for a variety of documentaries in the Red Sea and abroad, helping convey the importance of ocean ecosystems and the threats they face.
Wejdan Ghamdi
In-KingdoM Relations
Dr. Wejdan Ghamdi is a graduate of the KAUST Material Science and Engineering program and is focused on pioneering solutions for reducing CO2 emissions in Saudi Arabia and beyond. She has also managed a variety of startups and initiatives in Saudi Arabia, providing invaluable local knowledge. Wejdan is fluent in Arabic and is from Al Bahah, Saudi Arabia.
